The Davey Tree Expert Co. opened seven new branch offices in the U.S. in the first quarter of the year.
Based in areas where Davey already has branch offices, the additional offices are expected to expand Davey’s presence and strengthen its brand in their markets, said Jim Stief, executive vice president of operations.
The new offices are located in Austin, Texas; Baltimore; Chicago; Detroit; Napa, Calif.; Pittsburgh; and St. Louis. The openings follow the company’s acquisitions of Cortese Tree Specialists in Knoxville, Tenn., Maier Tree & Lawn in Rochester, Minn., and Superior NW Tree & Shrub Care in Seattle earlier this year.
“When we choose to do a market expansion, it is really about creating opportunity,” Stief said. “Certainly, it allows us to provide more resources to our clientele. However, it also gives our employee-owners a chance to grow and mature.”
In-hand with the new openings, Davey also designated seven district managers to the locations, whom include:
- Tom Chaky, North Austin office;
- Todd Armstrong, North Baltimore office;
- Tony Brugger, Southeast Chicago office;
- Sean Barlette, Northwest Detroit office;
- Paul Dubois, Napa office;
- Todd Sherbondy, East Pittsburgh office and
- Greg Wilson, West St. Louis office.
“Most of these managers have lived and worked in these areas for many years,” Stief said. “They know the unique challenges of each landscape, and I know they are eager to share their knowledge with their new neighborhoods.”
Furthermore, because they work at an employee-owned company, Davey employees capitalize on these opportunities when they are presented, Stief said.
“As employee-owners, our field people have a vested interest in the company and have a greater commitment to our clients and to each other,” Stief said. “They want this chance to prove themselves, and we are confident of their success.”
