SIMA selects new board members

|

The Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA) elected a new chair and two directors to its board of directors.

Mike Anderson, president of Snow & Ice Pros of Highland Ind., was elected to a one-year term as chair of the board. Elected to serve three-year terms as directors on the board were Rick Huffman, director of landscape management for The Pattie Group in Novelty, Ohio, and Paul Vanderzon, sales representative for Metal Pless and co-owner of Deneigement Vanderzon in St. Bruno, Quebec.

The SIMA board of directors is responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, program approvals and membership direction, among other tasks, for the trade association.

Anderson was the first person in Indiana to receive the Certified Snow Professional (CSP) designation. He has been a member of the education and membership committees at SIMA and serves as a SIMA Buddy and mentor, teaching classes on marketing and parking lot measurements. Anderson earned a B.S. in accounting from Marquette University.

Rick Huffman, also a CSP, currently serves as chair of SIMA’s education advisory board. He attended the Ohio State University for sports turf management.

Paul Vanderzon has 34 years of experience in the snow industry. He sits on SIMA’s outreach advisory committee and serves as a SIMA Advisor. In 2012, Vanderzon was honored as the Snow Business CEO of the Year and in 2010 was named the SIMA Volunteer of the Year. Through his company Entreneige, he also organized the largest snow-only trade show in Canada in 2010.
