Cleveland teen seeks capital for landscape business, raises $20K

|

A young entrepreneur from Cleveland celebrated more than just his 15th birthday this week. He also celebrated a $23,000 (and counting) investment in his lawn care company, D’s LawnCare.

@Husqvarnausa equipment thank you so much I really appreciate it.

After videos about Daron Taylor’s company went viral, he set up a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising additional capital for his business. In the first 10 days, more than 1,000 people donated small amounts to the ninth-grader’s business.
Taylor started cutting grass when he was 14, telling Cleveland.com he preferred spending his summer break building a business over playing video games.
Finding it difficult to carry equipment and push his mower from house to house, and being too young to drive a car or truck, Taylor devised a homemade trailer, which hooks up to his bicycle and carries his mower, blower, string trimmer, extra fuel and personal protective equipment. D’s LawnCare, which also employs Taylor’s little brother, TiShawn Holmes, serves eight to 10 regular customers, according to Cleveland.com, and also does single services.
Taylor recently started using Instagram to promote his business and even runs promotional sales. With all the attention his business has garnered, he’s bound to be busy this summer.
“I’ve been stopping every 10 minutes for someone to say keep up the good work and give us 10 bucks,” Taylor said. “I can’t ride the trailer without somebody stopping me!”
Still, the budding businessman assures his admirers that he will remain in school. Taylor will study digital arts next year and hopes to pursue a career in engineering or robotics. Check out his homemade trailer here:
