Delaney reappointed to EPA advisory committee

|

Tom Delaney, director of government affairs at PLANET, was reappointed to a two-year term with the Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee (PPDC), a federal advisory committee that provides feedback to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Pesticide Programs.

Speaking to the benefits of his appointment to the Green Industry, Delaney said, “It gives us a better voice with EPA. We get a closer to ear some of our issues.”

Delaney served on the committee two years prior and will have a heavy hand in the PPDC’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) workgroup and Pollinator Protection workgroup in his coming term.

A focus of the Pollinator Protection workgroup, he said, will likely regard a bill brought to U.S. Congress against a pesticide as the result of an Oregon landscape company spraying trees inhabited with bees.

On the agenda for the IPM workgroup, Delaney said, is indoor and outdoor pest control on school grounds, ensuring industry standards are followed.
