ICPI Launches Courses for Concrete Paver Installers

and |

Attendees will learn specialty applications such as raised and multi-level patios, fireplaces, fire pits, grills, outdoor kitchens, pool decks and permeable interlocking concrete pavement.

The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) has announced the newest course for concrete paver contractors who specialize in installing advanced segmental concrete pavement systems in the residential market.

The Residential Paver Technician course provides advanced training in residential paver installations and covers some of the hottest topics in outdoor living space design and construction. Specifically, attendees will learn specialty applications such as raised and multi-level patios, fireplaces, fire pits, grills, outdoor kitchens, pool decks and permeable interlocking concrete pavement.

“ICPI developed the Residential Paver Technician Course in response to overwhelming industry demand for advanced education for the residential market,” said ICPI Contractor Education Subcommittee Chairman, Course Instructor and President of Garden Square Landscaping, Ross Causey. “Attendees will gain knowledge that they can immediately put into action in their businesses.”

The content of the course has been assembled by contractor instructors, and is intended to build on the knowledge introduced in the Concrete Paver Installer Course. It consists of two days of classroom training and finishes with an exam.  Upon successful completion of the exam, a participant receives a Record of Completion.  A Residential Paver Technician designation can be added to Concrete Paver Installer Certification if the participant also meets the minimum installation experience requirement.  See www.icpi.org/InstallerDesignations for more details.  This program is approved for 13 CE credits of ICPI Installer Continuing Education.

Other ICPI courses include:

  • Construction of Permeable Pavements
  • How to Sell and Market Concrete Pavers
  • Estimating Labor and Materials for Segmental Concrete Pavements
  • The Pattern Language of Concrete Pavers
  • Theory of Base Installation
  • Maintenance and Management of Interlocking Concrete Pavements
