People on the Move: Sara Bendrick teams up with Stihl; Takeuchi appoints 2; Toro employee inducted into Green Industry Hall of Fame; and more from PBI-Gordon, Gachina and Solesbee’s

Stihl has teamed up with landscape contractor and television host, Sara Bendrick, to deliver expert landscaping advice and tips to homeowners.

With more than 10 years of experience, Bendrick specializes in residential design where she combines environmental awareness and artistic expression. Bendrick is best known as the host of the DIY Network show, “I Hate My Yard” and is the author of “Big Impact Landscaping.” Bendrick will utilize her landscaping expertise and on-air talent to develop digital content for homeowners with topics including basic gardening and how-to tips and tackling tough yard projects and designs for exterior spaces.

Since 2012, Bendrick has owned and operated Sarita Landscape Designs, a landscape design and build company, based in San Diego. She earned her bachelor of science in landscape architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and studied horticulture at Cuyamaca College in 2005. After college, she worked for several landscape design companies, including serving as forewoman for Ponderosa Landscapes and as a landscape designer and project manager for Sage Landscapes. In 2017, Bendrick received first place at the California Landscape Contractors Association Awards for Small Residential Design.

Takeuchi-US named Fred Hinton to a newly appointed position as technical trainer and content developer for the technical training group. This position was added in response to keeping up with the market growth Takeuchi has experienced, according to the company.

Hinton’s main responsibilities include helping the training group facilitate instructor-led technical training to Takeuchi dealers and customers both at the Pendergrass, Ga., facility and regional locations. Additionally, he will develop content for future courses and help take the training program to the next level.

With a background in instructional design, technical documentation and project management, Hinton brings 13 years of experience in construction and related industries.

In other Takeuchi news, the company introduced Henry Lawson as national dealer sales manager.

Based out of Takeuchi-US headquarters in Pendergrass, Lawson will be responsible for all sales activity through the company’s North American dealer sales channel. Lawson brings 35 years of rental and construction equipment sales experience to this position. Most recently, he was a district manager for United Rentals and managed 10 locations in north Georgia and southern Tennessee. Prior to United Rentals, Lawson worked for Neff Rental for 21 years, where he held several positions. The most recent being region vice president, southeast region.

He will reside in the Pendergrass area and has a bachelor of science agricultural economics degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.

Toro Water Management team member, Rob Starr, was inducted into the Green Industry Hall of Fame. Starr was one of eight individuals honored for contributions to the Green Industry.

Starr has extensive experience in advanced engineering, manufacturing technology and operations management. He joined The Toro Co. in 2006, adding to the company’s expertise in water management innovation.

In addition to Starr’s technical skills, he is an advocate for water management and efficiency. He was at the center of the creation of weekly radio show, The Water Zone, to inform the public about water-related issues. He continues to produce and host the show five years later. Starr has been instrumental in educating and working with influencers, legislators and government agencies to develop standards and practices for efficient water management.

The Green Industry Hall of Fame was created in 2005. Inductees are recognized annually for contributions that have changed the industry through their work, inventions and innovation. The other inductees for 2019 include: Andy Bowden, principal of Land Concern, Tom Donnelly, president of BrightView Landscape Development, Rose Epperson, arborist at West Coast Arborist, Steve Hazzard, founder of Organic Control, David House, retiring president of Village Nurseries, Thomas House, past president and CEO of Village Nurseries, and Stephanie Landregan, director of UCLA Landscape Architecture Extension.

Tim Demerath joined PBI-Gordon Corp. as vice president of sales for the company’s Pest Management Business Unit.

In his newly created role at PBI-Gordon, Demerath will oversee the company’s four sales groups to maximize opportunities and grow market share. Demerath brings more than 15 years of sales experience to his role at PBI-Gordon. He was most recently sales manager for the western Iowa district of Bayer CropScience, where he led a team of 10 field representatives and posted significant market share increases. Prior to that, he held other sales, marketing and commercial operations positions at Bayer.

Gachina Landscape Management recently promoted three employees to the executive leadership team. The three employees have more than 35 years of combined experience in the industry and more than 25 years with the California landscape company.

Senior Peninsula Branch Manager William Cruz was promoted to director of operations. Cruz joined Gachina in 2004 as an account manager. His new position oversees all branch operations and specialized departments.

Senior Account Manager Samuel Anderson was promoted to associate branch manager. Anderson joined Gachina in 2012 as an associate account manager. His new position oversees all operations for the Peninsula branch.

Senior Account Manager Raul Guerrero was also promoted to associate branch manager. He joined Gachina in 2013 as an associate account manager. His new position entails overseeing all operations for the west branch.

Solesbee’s, a Kinshofer company, appointed Lane Scroggins as outside sales manager. Scroggins will be responsible for bringing the brand’s years of global product expertise to local customers. He will continue to oversee the sales department and will also manage dealer relationships across the country.

Scroggins brings more than 15 years of industry and sales leadership experience. Early on in his career, he led inside sales with Solesbee’s, where he established relationships with a long list of customers and dealers in the Southeast.

Scroggins’ knowledge of the Solesbee’s brand and products is especially valuable as he transitions to his new position. Customers and Solesbee’s team members will benefit from his understanding of compatible carriers, machines and attachments, the company said. His experience will help expand the dealer network to serve the range of markets where Solesbee’s attachments are valued, such as construction, demolition, forestry and other land clearing industries.
